Hello I am new here and started in December with CPAP and now on my 3rd type of mask but all three leak around 2:30 a.m. and I try so hard to adjust and stay in bed but end up so cold with the air blowing and uncomfortable I get up. I am getting less sleep now! I have a seizure disorder and it really plays havoc with me losing so much sleep. They have adjusted the settings so it's not blowing the mask almost off of my face and I do have a more heated tube now. Those things have helped but ready to give up. I'm supposed to have knee replacement surgery the end of March and was told I needed to be released from the doctor (pulmonologist) to do that as narcotics for pain make apnea worse. Not sure what to do at this point. Thanks for ideas. Jeanne

What masks have you tried and where do they leak? Do you know what pressure is being used? Also do you know what type of apnea events you are having? Narcotics can make the frequency of central apnea events worse. CPAP pressure is not effective in reducing central apnea events, and more pressure may even make it worse.

Hi Sierra, I've tried the nose mask-too small and leaked and hurt my face. I've tried the full mask leaked and couldn't get a good fit. The most recent one is the nose cushion and it leaks so much it's only registering half an hour when I'm asleep for 3. I think they recently changed the pressure to 8-15 and when it gets higher during the night it blows all over waking me up then I'm up for hours on end now feeling like I'm going to have a seizure due to sleep deprivation. I have a call into my neurologist as I have an implant for seizures and feel that is making it worse as it causes sleep apnea to be worse. I have really been struggling with this entire thing!! Hopefully the doctor will call today. Thanks, Jeanne

Getting the right mask is a very personal thing. I use a ResMed AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask and it works well for me with a fixed pressure of 11 cm. My wife uses a F&P Brevida nasal pillow with good success, up to a pressure of 15 cm.
