Resmed AirSense 10 - on/off?

I am newly diagnosed with sleep apnea, though I have known for years that I have it. I just picked up my Resmed AirSense 10 machine.

Maybe I should be at their own forum, but I didn't find one. But maybe other people here use the same machine.

It has Smart start enabled. However, I have noticed when I am not using it, when I just checked, I felt a slight bit of air coming from the tube. I thought it would be off completely when I'm not in bed. Is this not the case? I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong, and if it is running all the time it's going to wear out? Probably a dumb question. LOL

I believe the supplier will be calling me in the next few days to check how things are going (the guy who "trained" me said they probably would), but I'm too impatient to ask then.

Night one wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. However, night 2 was horrible. I don't think it was fitting quite right. And I hate not being able to sleep on my stomach. Oh well. Hopefully night 3 will be ok.

Thanks for any answers.

There will be some air still coming from the tube after you shut it off. This is to help it dry out. I forget how long it lasts, but it will shut off after a while.

The small amount of air is normal as mentioned above. I'm not sure exactly how long it lasts but seems like at least 15 minutes but definitely less than an hour. Not sleeping on your stomach definitely takes some getting used to, but in under a month I was able to sleep comfortably again. Good luck!

The small flow of air you mention is generated by the machine to cool the humidifier. You will notice a little snowflake symbol flashing on the screen to indicate as much. It will last until it thinks it is cool. Ignore it. It's fine. I'm not sure why ResMed felt the need to add this feature when millions of CPAP machines around the world have operated perfectly fine without cooling their humidifiers.

The air continues to flow to dry the hose to eliminate condensation inside the hose/unit.

The S9 and AirSense 10 machine from ResMed all do the same thing. It's pointless but harmless.
