This post is a follow up from a year ago. My night sweats were so bad that my physician and I decided to start hormone replacement therapy. I know all the side effects and waited to take the prescription until I couldn’t handle it anymore. I was so surprised to discover that not only did my hot flashes stop but my sleep apnea numbers per hour went way down! I now sleep soooo much better and my numbers are down. Ladies, if you are suffering from night sweats, maybe you should talk to your doctor. I am vigilant on monitoring by body and going to my doctor regularly for checkups. But as far as my sleep apnea episodes go I am feeling so much better. I guess you need to weigh out the side effects of HRTs vs. the side effects of sleep apnea.
I have used cpap for 11 years now but recently have been suffering from night sweats due to menopause. I lay awake almost every night for at least an hour. I still keep my mask on during this time. Lately, my API has gone up to 7 or 8 events. Could awake breathing be affecting my overall API events?
