Everything has side effects. Aspirin, statins, vasectomies, etc
So, there must be potential issues with the use of CPAPs to treat Apnea. They might be modest. They might impact only some people They might occur only at the extremes.
Setting my pressure was a process of trial and error with my sleep doc. The key measure we tracked was incidents per hour. And the target was "less than 7"
I'm there and I'm sleeping well and my incidents average below 7. But I'm still wondering about side effects....
So, let me know if you think you have had any or heard from others or your Doc or any other source. Do not tell me how wonderful your CPAP is.... I agree and it is for me too. That's NOT what I'm asking to hear.
Thanks!
George, yes I agree it's wonderful, but at almost-70, I have a strong belief that everything good has a limit...and I'm wondering what problems arise IF pressure is set too high. Those problems (and I know there are some) might be something I'm not experiencing, in which case, and at that point, I will "not worry about it". But in the meantime, I want to know what the side-effects/risks of too high pressure are.
My initial setting, 4 years ago was 10. I'm now at 14. I am sleeping really, really well and averaging about 4 recorded incidents per night. And get up at most once a night maybe once a week
But I'm wondering if I might be sleeping too heavily. I'd like to wake up to a loud noise or if I'm in an awkward position causing a stiff neck or a limb falling asleep.
