I've been experiencing moderate/severe acne (I'm 62!) for over a year now. It is confined to my lower cheeks & jaw areas - where the straps from my mask are. I have covers for the straps, am seeing a dermatologist, taking antibiotics, using topical sulfur meds and still it continues. Is it possible that my SoClean could be causing it? I am putting the complete head gear with strap covers in the unit.
I use vinegar to clean my mask and headgear about once a week. I follow that with Dawn soap and water to rinse all the vinegar off. I get some marks on my face from the straps which go away in an hour or so, but no acne.

It could be bacteria-related that occurs from the rubbing of the mask to your skin. I have two suggestions. 1. Look for a product that contains 2% salicylic acid to apply to the area AM and PM as it will take care of bacteria on contact. Some companies make a gel type that is less drying than a liquid. 2. Go to www.ApneaPartners.Org and look under Product and Treatment Support/CPAP Comfort Support for Mask Liners that are disposable.
