Not sure I need an Oximeter. My AHI has dropped from 33 to around 7 - 8.

Caregiver is giving me an oximeter to get readings for one night.

Wondering if it is advisable to just buy one and monitor it several times a week ?

thank you for any feedback !

Hi dmypub

My view is that knowledge is better than ignorance unless it causes you more stress.

I bought one of these recently and it seems to be reasonably accurate in the things I can cross reference.

It's only a toy but more fun than just an oximeter. (It downloads to Linkself which is available in android and apple)

If you buy an oximeter I would be sure to get one that is compatible with SleepyHead. See this info:

That said is your machine capable of saving data and viewing it in SleepyHead? That may tell you a lot more than an Oximeter will.

Yes, I was going to buy the oximeter that sleepyhead supports so I can track and save readings all night long. 118$ I think. Right now, I'm still struggling with masks and what my insurance will cover. I like the resmed airfit f30 but I would also have to shell out +100$ to buy one of these..

What is the breakdown of your AHI of 7-8? Is it mainly obstructive, or clear airway? What pressure are you using?

I have tried the full face masks and have gone back to the nasal pillow type. I actually have a Swift FX on order now which I hope will be a little better than the AirFit P10. If you open your mouth in the night, it can usually be solved with tape on the mouth. Or, worst case, chin strap and mouth tape.

mainly obstructive: 3.26, 6.44, 4.41, 6.34 the last few nights.

air pressure is 10 - 14 cm

I have tried two masks so far: dreamware amara, which leaked like a sieve at 14 cm and a simplex, which has been much better with less leaking, but is driving my eyes crazy - every morning I wake up with puffy eyes which take hours to get back to normal.

My wife uses a F&P Brevida nasal pillow mask and started mouth taping on Nov 14. See last night's results for an example. Leaks are down to essentially zero.

And she has had a signficant reduction in OA events (light blue in bar chart below) since Nov 14 as well.

My hope is that the Swift FX nasal pillow will be better still for me. It is rated up to 20 cm. But, that said it is in the mail, so I have no evidence of what it will do yet.
