So I have a 2nd hand CPAP machine which my doctor gave me on rent, the problem with the machine is that it has max pressure of 20, I am having moderate SA. and my AHI for pressure 15 was 1 but yesterday for an experiment I kept the max pressure on 20 and within 10 -15 minutes when I was just laying on my bed watching movie with the mask on the pressure reached 20, the pressure reaches it's maximum as set within 10 - 15 minutes, So is this machine the type of Auto machine or something else and how does auto CPAP machine works.

With auto CPAP a minimum pressure is set and a maximum pressure is set. The machine then adjusts the pressure as needed according to your ongoing apneas. More pressure is applied for bigger obstructions and less pressure is applied for lesser obstructions. Thus your airway is kept clear so that your body can get saturated with oxygen...100% saturation and you're really humming along. Most of us with untreated OSA experience desaturations when our levels fall below 95%. That means we are not getting enough oxygen to saturate our bodies. My husband's level falls to 80% if his apnea is not treated with CPAP.
So, you see, these auto CPAP machines are wonderful for those of us with simple OSA (obstructive sleep apnea).
You mentioned, in an earlier post, that you had a stuffy nose and cough. It's possible that your body is needing a little extra pressure from your CPAP machine during this time in order to keep your airway clear. Don't worry. Your machine isn't "stuck" on 20. It'll go to a lesser pressure when 20 is no longer needed (when your body and airway no longer need that extra pressure).
Hang in there. Drink lots of fluids and get better soon.
I do not recognize the name or model of "airbase". Could it be AirSense? If so, that is the latest model of the ResMed machines from Australia. The complete name would be AirSense 10 AutoSet if it is the automatic version.

Talk about obscure machines. I looked at the website for this machine iSleep Breas and there isn't much technical. Never heard of it before but it does say the thing has a humidifier if I got that right.... I would find out if this doctor who rents machines has a name brand machine with some documentation. I think there will be a model name attached to the unit and there may be specs on the breas.com website under the MEDIA AND RESOURCES link. It is a Swedish company.
