It’s a common question to when replace the CPAP equipments. My mask and thermal hose are over 5 y now. I clean them regularly and use So Clean machine every week. My myapnea stats are almost 100%, no leakage and 0 events. I’m totally comfortable with the mask gear and always use 3M tape for mouth closure. Do I really need a new mask? My insurance only covers the Machine not the mask replacement. Thanks

The mask and hose will usually let you know when it needs to be replaced. It kind of depends on the mask and what issues it can have. The vent screen on my ResMed P10 eventually plugged and that prompted me to replace it. The silicone parts can crack or get to stiff to seal properly. The silicone cushions can usually be replaced without replacing the whole mask. I had trouble with the ResMed heated hose with the fitting getting soft and almost gooey. It kept disconnecting from the mask in the night. A new hose solved the problem. After 5 years I am basically on my second mask, and second heated hose.

CPAP manufacturers do not approve of using the SoClean device as the ozone it uses is very aggressive. Vinegar, dish soap, and water are the best cleaners.
