I don't know if this is what's described elsewhere as a new car smell, but my new Dreamstation 2 has a horrible smell. I had a Dreamstation for a year before the recall. I'm familiar with the milder smell of new tubing or a new nasal cushion that passes within about a day, and is completely bearable. But I can feel this smell irritating my lungs. Got the machine set up and tested it but I only lasted a couple of minutes. It really seemed wrong. I'm now airing it out where it gets some sun through a window (not very intense) and that may help. Does anyone also have this problem? The new machine is very quiet and I am eager to use it, but not if it will fry my lungs. Meanwhile, it's more Breathe Rights for me until this gets resolved.

No experience with the DreamStation, but if it is similar to the ResMed machine there should be a prewarm feature that warms the machine up and holds it there for 30 minutes or so. If it has this feature you may want to repeat it several times to get airflow through the machine without you having to breathe it in.

That sounds promising, I'll check the manual. I do know it's set up to start automatically when I start breathing with it. Thanks.

On the ResMed there is a user menu, and the pre warm feature is one of the selections on the menu.

Have you spoken to your sleep doc or sleep lab about it? I’d start with that and see what they think…

That's my next step. I had started testing the machine before the long holiday weekend and will be able to make the call tomorrow. Thanks.
