Hello! I started sleep treatment for the first time about 10 days ago on a
ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV. I have no
problem wearing it while awake or falling asleep with it on, but once it ramps up to higher pressure I can’t handle it. This usually happens 1-3 hours after falling asleep; it feels like it is blasting at me so hard that air pushes into my mouth and out the sides of the mask. I can’t figure out how to breathe in with all that air coming at me. I don’t know what ‘it,’ the machine, wants me to do! I’m calling my doctor for advice but they are often sow to respond and I am so anxious to get this to work. TIA

That is the machine responding to what it thinks you need while asleep. However, once you wake up you don't need all that air any more and the machine can't respond to reduce the pressure very quickly. The best thing for you to do is to stop the machine and start it again so that it goes back to it;s initial pressure. Hopefully, over time, it will become less of a problem.
