Hey all, I’ve been using a Bipap machine for about three months now. It’s going okay in general but I have one problem.

Ever since I started using it my face hurts. That sounds silly but I don’t know how else to describe it! It’s like there’s too much air in my face or sinuses. That’s not a great description but it’s really hard to describe.

Thoughts?

A BiPap machine is generally used by those that need more pressure than the standard CPAP can provide - 20 cm. So they tend to run at higher pressures. It does take some time to get used to those higher pressures. It may also be a result of the type of mask you are using. You may want to look at the type of masks called "minimal contact" which are made by ResMed and F&P.

The other possibility is that the air pressure being used is not optimized. You can download OSCAR to view your sleep results and see if there is any room for optimization. The more pressure you have, the tighter the mask has to be to keep it from leaking.
