Toxic odor from new ResMed Climate Line Air Heated tube

I have been using a ResMed AirCurve 10 BiPAP machine for 3 years. When I first got my machine, the air hose I got with it was very pliable and never has any odor coming from the hose when I used it.

A few years ago, ResMed switched to what appears to be a lesser grade of plastic for their hoses. They are now stiff and when I hook up a new ResMed Climate Line Air Heated tube it smells like I'm breathing plastic. So I have to let them sit out, exposed to fresh air for at least a month, sometimes longer, before the smell dissipates.

Now, my old hose is leaking and my new hose is still stinking like plastic so I can't use it.

I put in a complaint to ResMed about a year ago about the toxic smell from the hoses. I will be complaining to them again.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this with the new ResMed Climate Line Air Heated hoses.

Any plastic is toxic, so it's bad enough that we have to breath a toxin to use a CPAP machine. But it's a double whammy if ResMed is now using a grade of plastic that puts out even more toxins than before.

The only time I have had a bad smell from my AirSense 10 is when I let the water reservoir go dry. Wow, does that stink -- like a month old gym bag with unwashed clothes in it...

One thing you might want to try is using the pre warming feature. It is near the bottom on the main menu. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to prewarm, and then goes into a holding mode. Not sure how long it will stay there. It warms up with a lower air flow going through the hose. Not sure if it uses the hose warming or just the humidifier warming. But, at minimum it circulates air without you having to breath it in.

Where did you purchase the new hose? I have read that some aftermarket or counterfeit supplies can have bad smells.
