Over a year ago I started a new job that involves using two computer screens. I have been a cpap user since 2006 but despite two recent visits to the sleep lab, my sleepiness during the day is horrendous - when I am working on the screens. It starts the way it always started -with a feeling in my eyes that grows and then I realise I have fallen asleep and jerked awake and so it goes on and on. It takes me ages to even write an e-mail. My fingers must freeze on the keys and I get lines of the same letters over and over again. I have reported it to my sleep lab. I have been given a new machine with added pressure. Apparently, this has decreased my incidences during the night which they are very pleased about. However, no-one seems able to explain why this happens almost every day at work. It can happen in the morning or the afternoon. Has anyone ever heard of particular problems with using computer screens? I am really getting desperate.
This is something you really need to talk to you doctor about. Even with the apneas well controlled some folks still have the excessive daytime sleepiness you are describing. The doctors really don't know why but it happens. Talk to your doctor about what alertness medications might be appropriate for you. There are several. Sorry for the delay in responding. Haven't look at the forum for a while
