Did your husband wear a CPAP or dental appliance during sedation? I asked my dentist who made the appliance. He said you do not need to wear it and he has one but did not use it for colonoscopy. Plus slight potential it can come loose while under sedation. So Doctor doing colonoscopy knows about my sleep apnea and nasal cannula should be enough. Thanks for answering my question.
Absolutely petrified of having a colonoscopy. I just scheduled a routine exam and informed doctor of my sleep apnea and one time atrial fibrillation. He tried to relieve my anxiety and said I would be sedated with propofol. I would also have vitals monitored. I asked about my dental appliance I use when sleeping. He said I can use it but wondering if that may cause problem since I develope saliva and fear of coming loose while sedated. Doctor said I would have nasal cannula and drug used is short lived. My concern and fear has always been, being sedated and never waking up. Recent death of Joan rivers just upped my anxiety.
Has anyone had this done and what is best way to approach this procedure?
