Hello. Unless your new sleep study provides information that proves you will need to switch from CPAP to BiPAP, it may be fine for you to stay on CPAP. Changing to BiPAP without a sleep study to obtain appropriate settings may cause more harm than good, as these pressures are finely tuned to your breathing. The EPAP setting is adjusted to help prevent obstruction, and the IPAP setting is usually adjusted to help with more mild events (mild hypopnea, RERA, snoring, etc.). Is there something wrong with your current CPAP machine that prevents you from continuing to use it until you have your sleep study? I encourage you to check with your physician before making any changes to your treatment. Best wishes, and please keep us posted!
Hi wiredgeorge. Happy to read of your recent success with lower leaks and no AHI! Please let us know if your solution continues to be successful.
Glad to hear you found the problem and have been able to correct it! Dry sinuses can be terribly uncomfortable. Please keep us posted!
Hi DecisiveChampagneQuail3429. There is some research and information on oxygen and CPAP available, but oxygen and CPAP are only sometimes prescribed together if blood oxygen levels remain low despite CPAP treatment. Of course, there are other reasons physicians may prescribe oxygen and CPAP, but this is dependent upon each patient's requirements. We do not actually provide listings of all of the research together, but you can search PubMed for topics of interest to see what may be available in various scientific journals. Hope this helps!
Hi GenerousAzurePelican0978. I'm glad to hear you are sleep better with your APAP treatment. I encourage you to work with your physician and home care provider to monitor the data to your machine just to make sure the pressure changes are not causing other issues. You are correct that excessive mask leak can impact treatment, but some mask leak is considered normal. Best wishes, and I hope you continue to feel better! Please keep us posted on your progress.
Hello. It is possible that you are still trying to adjust to CPAP and that your sleep is still disturbed because the mask is coming off at night. I encourage you to contact your home care company if you are unable to adjust the mask headgear enough to keep the mask in place throughout the night. It may mean you need a different mask. I did experience a similar problem early on with a mask that was not comfortable, but my issue of waking up due to mask discomfort or waking up to find I had removed the mask resolved once I found a mask with good fit. There are other things that can cause tiredness (medication, other health conditions, etc.) that might be worth discussing with your physician. Best wishes, and please keep us posted!
Very happy to hear you are having such success with your treatment! Congratulations, and please continue to share your experiences!
Hi ImpartialEmeraldGoat2260. Lightheadedness, if it occurs immediately upon awakening and getting out of bed, can be the result of the CPAP helping to lower your blood pressure. I encourage you to speak with your physician about these symptoms to see if other things may be contributing. Nausea is not a general complaint I have encountered from CPAP patients, but I have worked with many patients who have experienced lightheadedness when getting out of bed. I usually encourage patients to sit up slowly and sit on the edge of the bed for a couple of minutes to adjust to the change in blood pressure. Please let us know how things progress!
Hi Roy. Glad to hear you are persisting and sleeping better! I agree with wiredgeorge. Don't be afraid to contact your physician if you have concerns or questions. Best wishes for continued success!
Good plan, brose005. And wiredgeorge makes a good point. Some patients who breath through their mouths prior to therapy are often able to use nasal masks or nasal pillows with treatment. However, if you feel you would do better with a full face mask, I have heard good things about the Quattro. As for the 2 machines you are looking at, both are very good. I happen to have and Airsense 10, but I have also used Philips machines. Both are considered top of the line. Thanks for keeping us posted!
