I have the HDM Z1, and have travelled extensively with it for the past 3 years. I have spent about that same amount of time looking for a replacement, but to date have not found one, because nothing—until perhaps recently —matches its small form factor. I’m not that crazy about the Z1 for several reasons:

1. It is extremely loud—like REALLY loud—even with the option dampening tube/silencer and even after trying multiple different types of tubing and connectors. It is so loud I would actually be concerned about permanent hearing damage if using it for more than a couple travel nights a month.
2. There is something weird about the inhalation phase—almost like it’s not producing enough airflow. The tubing is quite a bit narrower than nightstand models. As a result, when inhaling there is always a discomforting feeling that you are sucking against resistance.
3. The hunidification add-on filter is not adequate. No don’t really need humidification for short trips. But if you do, this is not the device.

The above said, I love the smartphone app and Bluetooth control-and-record interface. I also love the form factor and weight (or lack thereof) and great packability.

I’m watching this forum, because I am looking for an alternative to the Z1 for travel.
