To each of our members -
This year, we've seen an amazing amount of growth in our community. The respect and support that you all show for each other is truly something to be thankful for. We have big plans for the next year, but we would like to take the opportunity today to thank each and every one of you for your engagement on the site. Together, we will do great things for the sleep apnea community!
@UnassumingOrangeRedCormorant9252 the link is below, it's a great informative article:
New Frontiers in the Treatment of Sleep Apnea: Unilateral Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation
@DariaVader I'm glad you've found it so useful! It seems like it could be a really great resource. Can you elaborate a bit on how you got started using it, and any big information gaps that you had to work through in order to gain a good understanding of the data?
@UsernameNumber Thanks for the information, that's greatly helpful to know!
I've played with the software a bit, and it does a great job of showing you the data. But, like you said, I would guess there's a large gap between seeing that data and knowing how to interpret it. Have you been able to find any helpful resources anywhere?
Hi everyone! We've been having conversations with members who have various experiences using SleepyHead, and would like to learn more!
If you don't know about the software, it's described on their site:
SleepyHead is a free, cross-platform, open-source research tool for exploring data produced by CPAP machines, and related equipment, which are used in the treatment of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.
Have you ever used it? What were your experiences like? Is there any gap in your understanding of the information that you wish you could learn more, in order to use it better?
Maybe there would be an advantage to using a wrist activity tracker for general health and activity feedback, but something additional like the SleepRate for better sleep feedback? Looking forward to hearing how you like it, @Que!
Thanks for the info, @Que! I'm asking because we've heard a variety of views on the wrist activity trackers. It seems that the general consensus is that a majority of the companies have some work to do, but there have been a few successful validation studies on the Fitbit's more recent devices. I know a number of people with Fitbits that love them, but admittedly don't use them much for sleep tracking.
Anybody else have any experiences?
Does anybody here use any of the wrist activity trackers? If so, would you mind sharing how frequently you use them and what kind of data you find helpful for general health and sleep health?
Hi @Missjudi, this site isn't specifically for any treatment type - we want to open the discussion up for all aspects of sleep apnea, research, and treatment. There are always many discussions about CPAP because its such a common treatment choice. There was a thread earlier about dental appliances that might help initially.
Perhaps an even better idea - you can start a new topic to open the discussion up and hear from others who use mouth guards. Just visit this link, name it something like "Sleep Apnea Mouth Guards" so that it's very clear and easy to find for others, and add as much info as you would like! Let me know if you have any questions!
Hi @HelpfulRedVioletEland8296
