I have been on a bi-pap for over two years and have had great results. I have worn it every single night since getting it. My events have consistently been below 5 during that time. Oh I had the occasional increase due to a leak here and there or needing to replace a worn out mask but have had great success with the treatment, until recently. Over the last several weeks my apnea events have been increasing and can range from 7 to 17. Yes, I have a new mask, tubing, headgear, etc and there is no significant leakage. The only thing that has changed over the last 2 years has been weight loss over the last 30 days. This has been intentional by changing my diet to eating healthier and exercise. I am not obese but was overweight. I am 5'10" and weighed 222 pounds. Over the last month I have lost 20 pounds on my way to my ideal weight of 180 pounds. I am 53 years old.
My question is this: With my weight loss, is my apnea improving to the point where the bi-pap is actually causing my events to increase?
