Thanks for your comments. Once I get the chance to buy an SD card reader and get the Sleepyhead thing going, I will be able to post results. At least I will still have my Respironics System One as a back up, just in case.
OK, small update. My insurance is requiring a copy of the diagnostic sleep study, a doctor's written order explaining how I use the machine each night and benefit from it and a prescription. They got the sleep study info and the prescription and are just awaiting a doctor's written order and we can proceed. I spoke with my new medical equipment supplier and was told that the only machine they are contracted to obtain for me is the Dreamstation. Will keep you guys in the loop as I learn more.
Its a Bi-PAP machine. Last night, I adjusted the cpm for ramp up to 6, but didn't really notice a difference. Slept well. I also looked at the machine hours when I was in the settings and I saw that the machine has 5,700 hours on the blower.
Thanks again! The machine I use has A-Flex. I am not as knowledgeable on the machine as you would probably like, however. I kind of set it once and that was it. I don't really think about it; just fill the reservoir with distilled water and go. I don't have a laptop with an SD card reader, so that will likely be an issue. I know they sell plug-in SD card readers, but don't have one, unfortunately.
Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it. I use a 20 minute ramp of 4cm, I believe. Then, it is set to about 12cm throughout the night. I have never heard of Sleepyhead until now, so I will have to check it out once I get a new machine. I just got off the phone with my medical supplies rep and she said that she can get me a new machine since I just became a member of their insurance plan. She is awaiting a DWO (Dr Written Order) from my doc stating that I need a new machine. Then, she'll call me back. I just didn't want them to mess with me by saying my machine is fine if there were much newer, better units out there. I'll report back when I find out what my new machine will be. I'll also check out Sleepyhead in the meantime.
Thanks again.
Good day, all. A question for the experts here.....I have had a Philips Respironics System One with Humidifier for about 5-6 years (I am assuming, based on what looks like a manufacture date on the bottom of the machine) I use a ResMed Quattro Air full face mask. It has been working fine throughout the years, but now it makes a small "buzz" or "hum" upon inhale and exhale and I have to jiggle the hose (where it connects to the humidifier) to get it to go away for a short while so I can fall asleep. I just got new insurance through my new employer (a healthcare provider with their own medical supplies department) and was wondering if it is wise/feasible to get a new machine or if I should just keep getting masks, hosing, filters from them. After six years, is it about time to change the machine? Are there far more intelligent units out there?
Thanks in advance.
