Kathy, I had the same un-sexy feeling at first. Then I realized that he didn't care LOL. He has mentioned that it helped him sleep better too because I'm no longer snoring his ear off. I too have a granddaughter. I showed her my machine and mask over the weekend, and told her that it helps me breathe better. In let her try it on. She's 3 today :) When she saw me with my mask on Saturday she said "Grandma's mask that helps her breathe!!" I know this post is a couple of years old, but I hope that you're feeling better now. I just started on my journey.
Hi everyone my name is Rachel. I've had issues with sleeping a lot over my 38.5 years, but used to blame stress. It was recently that I realized that no matter how much sleep I got, I still woke up exhausted. I had no energy to workout or even get through a chapter in a book. I started falling asleep at work, and that was enough for me. When I went in for my physical with my primary in March 2018, I asked her if I could get tested. She gave me a quiz to take, and I answered the highest score on almost every question (I've never fallen asleep at a red light). I was up to 2 huge coffees a day (20+ ounces each) to just stay awake. I took a home study and sure enough I have apnea. I just got my setup last week and am having a little bit of an issue getting adjusted. Last night I felt like I was going to suffocate, and had to rip my mask off to catch my breath. The pressure was up to the max of 18 set by my doctor's office. I turned the machine off and on again the 1st time to just be woken the 2nd time by the same thing. Finally I googled how to change the max as I was exhausted and needed sleep for work today. I changed it to 15. I am planning on setting it back to 18 tonight. Is this normal when starting out?? The other nights I wore it, that didn't happen.
Hi I'm new, and I started this issue last night myself. I just got the machine on Thursday 5/24, and used it for the first time Friday 5/25 (We forgot to purchase distilled water LOL). Friday-Sunday night were fine. Then all of a sudden last night it got so intense that I had to rip my mask off because I felt like I was suffocating. I looked at my unit and it said it was at 18 pressure which is the highest setting the tech setup for me. It was only about 30 minutes after I turned it on. It woke me again not so long after with the same thing, so I then googled how to turn it down. I couldn't withstand the 16+ pressure points. I turned it down to a max of 15, and was able to breathe fully for the rest of the night. My doctor/tech put in a variable pressure due to my insurance not covering an overnight stay and only a home study. I go back in July for a check. My app said I had 11.2 events per hour last night vs. 4.4 on Sunday night. I saw this site when I was googling, and decided to join today. I also have an airsense 10 autoset and a resmed airit f20 full face mask. I'm a mouth breather so the nasal pillows would be useless to me.
