Just bought a Sleep8 CPAP cleaner ... it does a great job ... actually sanitizing the whole thing mostly, because I still have to either wash or wipe out mask.

My problem is that the OZONE odor is pretty overpowering ... even a few days after I use it. And most importantly, the odor is triggering my wife's asthma. I've got to find a way to get rid of ozone smell.

Any ideas ...

For weeks I have been trying to find out why my Hours of Use reported to myAir is usually 5-6 hours when my actual use is between 7 and 8 hours ... something just wasn't right!

Finally figured it out ... a forum post (not sure which forum, though) recommended checking the date/time on my AirSense10 if erroneous data was being recorded. Had to find my "cheat sheet" for getting to the technician's setup ... discovered that although the date was correct, the time was way off! When I checked at around 10pm, the time on my machine was "8" am ... no wonder I have been getting wonky readings!! The data is transmitted each day at noon, and reset after transmission. So what has been happening is that my machine was reporting data after around four hours of sleep ... so the remainder of my sleep was simply dismissed ...

Since I changed the time on my machine to the correct 24-hour time, myAir has been reporting the correct Hours of Use data. Hurray! My data is now correct, and my nightly score is almost always near 100!

I am convinced that using a CPAP for the last 17 years has contributed to my hearing loss ... granted, I am in the "old fart era," with my 80th around the corner. What makes me wonder is that in the morning when I take off my CPAP mask, my hearing is at the worst level of the day. Everything is muddled for a couple of hours afterwards. I normally don't wear my hearing aids (highly over-rated, by the way) until after I return home after my daily gym trek ... just no sense using them at the gym ... they get in the way, and most of the time I'm there, I listen to my MP3 or the eliptical TV using earplugs ... while swimming, I use and MP3 player that uses bone-conduction to play my music, in addition to custom earplugs to keep water out.

Anyone else suspect hearing problems from CPAP?

How do you know when the air pressure is too high? Spent another weird night trying to figure out what's going on.

Had to restart my CPAP a couple of times last night in order to get the pressure low enough to fall asleep. The pressure was literally blowing up my mouth like a balloon. Beginning to wonder whether there is something wrong with my machine. Lowered pressure for tonight, and I'll see what happens.

Well ... this is the end of March, and I am still fighting a loosing battle with dry mouth. I have tried the mouthwash, the spray, and even the xylimelt things (although I had to settle for Act xylitol lozenges ... can't find xylimelt in my area). Read somewhere that antacids can lead to dry mouth, so I quit those ... which isn't a bad thing for the most part.

Last night I went to bed with a couple of xylitol mint chips in my mouth, and it was fine until around 3:00am, and then I awoke with that tongue glued to the roof of my mouth thing again! Wondering if decreasing saliva production during the middle of the night is a sign of something else? I take a lot of supplements, but the only medication that I take on a regular basis at this point is metformin due to my pre-diabetic status.

My mask seems to be working well, and my humidifier has not run out of water. Hoping the problem will right itself soon. It's not a good feeling, and I would like to be over it.

Wondering why sometimes I have a lot of water left in the humidifier after a night's sleep, and other times, it is completely dry, or almost dry?

I fill it to the same level every night, and other settings are the same. Very confusing.

Yes ... I have ResMed AirSense 10 ... using Quatro Full Face Mask. And I do have heated hose ... before that, I would wake up in the middle of the night from the noise of water in the hose ...

Guess I should invest (timewise) in Sleepyhead ... I'm almost afraid, because I tend to be OCD. Bought a fitbit last week, thinking that the data would be usefull ... what I found out is that I became fixated on keeping track of everything ... and I hated the constant reminders during the day ..."Only 124 steps to the next level" text messages. I don't need to be encouraged to be active ... being active has become an addiction that drives my daily life. It's acceptable, and it keeps me true and healthy ... hasn't replaced my food addiction, but helps to burn the calories I consume instead of blowing up like a balloon.

It's comforting to know that I'm not alone ... but that doesn't solve dry mouth problem. I have tried Biotene Gel and Biotene Spray ... both of them work in short term, but don't last through the night. Interesting that someone mentioned that the dry mouth was better with a lower air flow ... I know we're not supposed to adjust the machines ourselves, but I have done it on occasion over the 20 + years I have used CPAP. Thinking back, I had less problem dry mouth before I had machine adjusted for new Dreamwear mask ... which didn't work out. Switched back to old full face mask, but left the machine where the technician set it ... now I think I will try changing that setting back. Don't tell on me, please!
