I just got the Adjustable Herbst Appliance featuring the Oasys Hinge (for apnea). It was not at all like the dentist showed me the prototype of. Very hard plastic. But the worst part is that I cannot close my lips at all. My mouth is propped open with my tongue in the middle. There is posterior contact but absolutely no anterior contact. No way to keep saliva in at all and since I can't even come close to closing my mouth, I can't keep my lower jaw in line when I lay on my side. I can't find any pictures of anyone with the appliance in. Is this how it is supposed to be?
