Hello I have been using my cpap for about six months now at first it took me a while to get the right mask which I now have achieved but I have a sore like a zit on the tip of my nose what should I do to resolve this issue. I have seen this morning that there are cpap wipes to clean the mask, Do I need to buy wipes ? Or should I just rinse my mask out every morning and dry it and see if that is my issue. I do have plenty of replacement mask, decisions decisions can someone help me with this issue.
Hi. I also developed a sore on my nose, but on the bridge of my nose, after just a few weeks of using the CPAP. I had to stop using the CPAP until it cleared up and was then sold a Gecko Nasal Pad (at a huge cost!) I've been using that for a few days now and it seems a lot better. There is still a slight reddish mark where the sore was and I'm just praying it doesn't break open again.
I'm using a MirageQuattro. It's quite comfortable really but the sore has reappeared and I'm giving the machine a break again until it heals. The Gecko Nasal Pad was a waste of time. Caused far too much mask leakage. I've since cut the Gecko into tiny pieces to cover the sore and stuck it down with a plaster. But alas this hasn't helped either. I have a cough and a cold and I took the mask off for a few seconds to cough or sneeze (without turning on the light). The next morning my sheet was full of blood and there were even splatters of blood on the wall. Saw my GP who said I had a burst capillary in my nose as well as the sore on the outside. I'm wondering whether this could have been caused by the CPAP machine. I have a long history of nose problems - two operations - for deviated septum and epistaxis.

Geez! CPAP therapy and bleeding shouldn't be in the same sentence! I look at that mask and it looks bulky. I use an Amara View mask and it comes no where near the bridge of my hose; it basically covers your mouth such as any full face mask but fits up under your nose with very supple vinyl-type material and minimizes leaks once properly fitted. Time to try a new style mask! Nasal or nasal pillows might also be an option.
Thanks for that. I'm in South Africa and I don't think there many varieties of masks here. I will look out for the one you suggest tho. My skin is obviously very sensitive. When I cover the one sore that has healed I see another one breaking out in a different area.

If you can get things via amazon.com, they sell masks for $129 USD. The correct mask cushion size is critical for low leaks so go to the manufacturer website and look at their fitting guide to help you get the right size to begin with. I am a large person BUT need use a medium.
