recently I switched back to a nasal mask from a full face mask because it was hurting my face, and leaking all the time. I am having much better sleep, and fewer problems with the mask, but my sleep report says I have removed it several times in the night, and I know that I haven't. Certainly I would know if I had taken it on and off ten times!. Also my husband says he isn't ware of any such problem. Has anyone experienced incorrect reports?

I use the AirSense 10 AutoSet, and a P10 nasal pillow mask, and have had no such issues. However I do not use the ResMed MyAir reporting. Since I started used it I have only had the unhappy face on the machine once. That was when I was trying a F&P Brevida nasal pillow mask. It had obviously come out of place several times during the night. With my P10 mask I also use a Breathewear Halo chin strap to keep the mask in place.

The reports are always correct. I agree with Sierra that either the mask has come out of place or your jaw may sag in the night and allow for some mouth breathing. My husband doesn't wake up when his nasal mask leaks. Also, he doesn't wake up when I tap his arm. He has apparently tuned a lot of things out so that he can get some uninterrupted Zzzzs. That's a strong survival instinct.

I have been a life-long mouth breather, though mostly rehabilitated now by my CPAP therapy. After I'm all masked up for the night, but before I turn on my machine, I position my tongue against the roof of my mouth, with the tip of my tongue resting against the backside of my upper front teeth. Then I turn on my machine. I think the continuous pressure of CPAP must seal the tongue into position, because it is still there when I wake up in the morning. I notice sometimes when I wake up, that my jaw is super relaxed and my lips are parted and I wonder how long I've been sleeping that way. My sleep reports always show zero leaks so the tongue thing must be doing the trick.

I love "Sleepyhead" for reviewing my reports. Look for it online and download it for free.

What mask report and what did the report tell you that made you think the mask came off? ResMed? It reports "mask on/off". If your machine is set to automatically start and then stop when your mask is removed, seems like it would be hard to have that happen without noticing. If you hit the stop button then hit the start button, that also seems to be hard to explain... could be that the machine has a glitch that is accounting for the false report. The DME should be asked to swap the machine with another or test it in some manner.

I agree with SnuzyQ that if you used SleepyHead software for reporting you would see immediately what was going on. If you have the ResMed machine is the Smart Start feature turned on? If so perhaps you are dislodging the mask so much that the machine thinks the mask is off, and shuts down. Then when the mask is replaced, it starts again automatically. I've never had that happen, but I guess it is possible.
