Hi, I am new to all this apnea stuff, so please be patient, My question is I have just received the resproinics full face mask the phillips amara, model, I thought this would help since I had one with nose pillows and it has really hurt my nose cartilage and always woke up with my mouth open. so, are you supposed to sleep with the mouth closed when using the amara full face mask? any help and or comments would be great, thanks.

From a CPAP functional point of view, it is fine to have your mouth open with a full face mask. However there are some advantages to breathing through your nose. See the video at the link below. If you go back to a nasal pillow type at some point you may want to try the mouth taping along with it. I have used two different nasal pillow mask; ResMed AirFit P10, and the F&P Brevida. I found the Brevida irritated my nose more than the P10. It is important to get a size that does not go too far into your nose, but still seals. I have also found that using a bit of 1% hydrocortisone cream in the morning helped me get over the irritation issue.
