Husband has been trying to get his CPAP to be effective since Oct. They tried various pressures and masks. He uses the Resmed Airsense 10 with a Dreamwear Fullface mask. He uses mask filters to help with the seal and never has fit issues. He also uses a chin strap to keep his chin up. The dr, of course, would like his AHI to be below 5 but said he'd be happy if we could get it under 10. We've been tracking it and in the last 85 days he his AHI has been over 10 about 50% of the days. He had a stretch of 12 days that were all under 10, even under 5 and then all of a sudden they jumped, with some even in the 20's! Nothing else has changed but the results. Any ideas? They're increasing his pressure by 1 but I'm not optimistic. They looked at a download and thought it looked pretty good but how can that be when half the time his numbers are too high? We have another in person appointment next week but thought I'd see if anyone here has any ideas or experiences with wacky numbers.

It would really help if you could postSleepyHead Charts of a typical night. It would also help if we knew what machine your husband is using and what his settings are. By reviewing those detailed results we would be able to see why his AHI is as high as it is. you can download SleepyHead from here. [https://www.apneaboard.com/sleepyhead/]

Turn off the piechart and calendar on the left and include the following graphs, Events, Flow Rate, Flow Limits, Snores, Pressure, and Leaks

It is hard to make any comments other than it is a reasonable objective to get AHI under 5. As bonjour suggests it would be best to post some daily detail reports from SleepyHead to see what is going on.

Thanks for trying to help - I downloaded sleepyhead but the ResMed 10 doesn't have an SD card and I don't have any way of providing daily details to you. His sleep study showed an AHI of 28 and his original RX was for 15, he is now at 17 but they are supposed to be increasing it to 18. They also tried ranges with no success. He still snores part of the night which we know isn't good. It's all just really frustrating. Guess we'll see what the dr says next week. Thanks.

Can you give us a breakdown of the type of events that are making up the AHI for a bad day. What portion is obstructive, central, and hypopnea? What specific model of AirSense 10 does he have. See the link below. Toward the bottom of that page there is a comparison of the functional features of the various models. Is it a basic AirSense 10 CPAP? or one of the other ones?

AirSense 10
