I have ad my machine for just under 6 months now and it is getting to be camping season again. I can Not go without my machine and the humidifier so I am trying to figure what my best option is. I have looked at a Battery backup but it will only run for one night before needing a recharge. as of right now I have not been able to find a 12v charger for the ups that the sleep clinic suggested I buy. I feel like it is a "the power went out while you where sleeping and the ups kept it running, sort of situation". My Machine is a 12v 6.67a dc power consumption. my thought would be just get a 12v adapter from manufacturer and be done. as long as it is not going to kill my battery's in the trailer overnight. does anyone have experience with this situation.

I have a deep cycle 12v marine battery with inverter, and a small solar panel. Battery alone runs small fridge, overhead light, CPAP and charges phones/iPads for 48 hours. Any longer than that, I use the solar panel to recharge the battery.

You are fortunate in this situation to have a DreamStation as they run on 12 volts. The ResMed machines run on 24 volts and need an expensive ($100+) DC to DC converter, or have to run off an inverter which is less efficient. I don't see any need for a UPS. Running off DC is just as reliable as running off the grid, providing you keep the battery charged up. I would just get the 12 volt adapter cord that fits your DreamStation machine.

My wife and I both use ResMed machines and I have fitted our RV with 12 volt outlets that feed the 12 V DC to 24 V DC converters. The RV has two 6 volt golf cart batteries to provide a little extra reserve over a single 12 volt. But to go more than a weekend I use a 70 watt solar panel to keep the batteries up. Running the humidifier takes a lot more power than just running the machine. We usually shut the humidifier and heated hose off when running off battery only.
