ResMed MyAir AHI is suspicious this week

I have been happy with my ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV for 5 months. Suddenly, my AHI number is 10 times larger. I have been running less than 1 event per hour and now it is approaching 10 events per hour.

I pulled the data card an checked it with SleepyHead. SleepyHead says < 1 event per hour while the MyAir app says almost 10 events per hour. This seems to suggest that the data on the card is okay and that something has gone wrong with the computations at MyAir.

I have checked MyAir on my iPhone, my Mac, and my Linux box. All reports are the same. This pretty much points to the MyAir website as the culprit, and not anything on my equipment.

Anyone else noticing this?

Bob

Bob, I have a ResMed Airsense in Bipap mode and look at the myair numbers on a daily basis. Never saw anything suspicious. I have had my AHI number jump some but that usually happens after my mask leaked like a sieve all night (over L/min). Since you got the machine from a med supply place, the obvious answer is to ask them to swap it out for another as there seems to be some evidence that it isn't reporting AHI correctly which in the long term isn't helpful for your therapy.

Bob, are you still getting faulty readings with your MyAir report? I have only been on the site for 6 days and have been having 1-4 events per hour each night. Last night it jumped to 9 and I'm wondering why? What is the data card and SleepyHead? I have a lot to learn I guess.

Hello. Most CPAP machines have a small data card somewhere that can be removed. Sleepyhead is software that is freely available online, and many users download their machine data into the software to monitor their therapy.

CMJ7384, You can go up to the pull down menu just to the left of the search icon and change your username for something more friendly than the site-designated username.

I see a correlation between mask seal and my AHI. Has your mask seal spike on the nights you had higher AHI? As fas as obstructive apneas, seems to me they are pretty mechanical in that your airway gets blocked and therapy unblocks by forcing air in. The only thing I can think of that will keep air from being forced in is leaking. Central apneas are likely to be documented by the Sleepyhead software (I don't use it, I use the ResMed reports which do not differentiate between central and obstructive apneas). Anyway, welcome to the site!

It is possible that there is a problem with what your machine is reporting, and I encourage you to contact your equipment provider. They should be able to check you machine, the settings, and take a look at the data. Mask leak or a leak somewhere in your tubing can cause respiratory events to return, so check your circuit carefully for even small leaks. I hope you figure out the problem, and please let us know how you are doing!

I am also having the same issue. Sleepyhead reports my AHI at 4 while MyAir reports 16.
