I am a new CPAC user as of last night. Reading the manual Resmen S10 with a full face Amara View, humidifier airsense 10 and the heated hose tube. I read that I need to clean daily with a mild soap, all these component except the CPAC machine. Now a few newbie questions, 1) the heated hose I washed this morning and let it dry but there is still a few droplets inside, is that will be okay tonight when I use it? and 2) the humidifier is completely dry in the inside, but also is droplet water in the bottom of the humidifier, I guess the bottom is the portion that gets hot, this bottom area is not possible to dry it with a towel due to the aluminum plate above the plastic humidifier. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I feel it is most important to clean the part of the mask that contacts your face. I wash the strap part once every few weeks. I almost never wash the humidifier tank or and have never washed the hose. Also, there is a small door on the left/bottom/rear as you face the front of the machine that has a small filter that can and should be washed. Air is drawn through this filter and it can get very dirty over a few months unless washed. After a few times being washed, it can get out of shape and will need to be replaced. I use pretty much the same exact equipment as you and it seems to work well for me and hope you have great luck and progress with your therapy!

Hi Wengerda. I do think, as wiredgeorge stated, that it is important to keep you mask clean. Washing it helps remove body oils and helps prevent bacteria growth. I don't know many people who actually wash their tubing daily, but I do think washing it at least weekly works. I use the same thing I use for my mask--just mild soap and water with no antibacterial agent in the soap. I hang my tubing over the shower door and let it air dry. A few droplets in the tube will not be a problem. Good luck!

I found that scentless baby wipes to wipe the cushion and the inside of the mask out are easier than daily washing, then wash weekly. I also use the same baby wipe after wiping the mask and cushion and head rest (just before going to bed) on my face around the places where the cushion and head rest makes contact (a little bit like how my wife cleans off the makeup daily before she goes to sleep). One baby wipe each night and the packet of 80 lasts nearly 3 months. Cheap and easy.

Seems to make my face and mask contact feel cleaner as I go to bed.

Doesn't seem to affect the cushion. Think I learnt the trick at one of the machine suppliers, she cleaned my mask one time in front of me before connecting it to my face. It never occurred to me to use a baby wipe and isn't mentioned on forums but it is simple and effective. Up until that time I always did it the hard way.

I was a volunteer fireman for quite a few years. We cleaned the mask from our SCBA units after use because the masks were shared but used the wipes which kill germs that you might have in your kitchen. This is OK for the fire department but found it does ruin the soft masks used with CPAP equipment. The mask looks pretty much the same but gets kind of soft and just won't seal well and I ended up hitching up the straps to the point it was pretty uncomfortable. I think this type of wipe has bleach in it. Well.... seemed like a good idea at the time!

Hi all. There are wipes made especially for CPAP masks and equipment. They are usually available through your equipment provider but might be less expensive online. A quick search for CPAP mask wipes on the internet should turn up several results. Good luck!
