My wife has a Dreamwear mask with a Resmed Airsense 10 APAP. Yesterday, her mask leakage was 20 L/min, and her AHI was 1.7. This morning, her leakage was 35, and her AHI was 1.8. On the 25th, her leakage was 26 L/min, while her AHI was <1.0.
It seems that there is little relationship between the two. Ideas???

Well, obviously the pressure varies upwards when a mask leak is detected and does so automatically. This pressure is adequate to keep her airways open. the leak rates decribed are not great but not really all that bad. My AHI was under 1 usually until my L/Min went to 100 or more which meant the mask was in my mouth and there was little pressure as it was escaping. Then my AHI went up correspondingly. Never got real high usually... maybe 5-8 range but that is more than is good I think.

Hi wiscman. Newer machines can compensate for some mask leak within the ranges you mention. Some mask leak is considered normal. I use a ResMed machine, and my leak is usually around 20 L/min, but my AHI stays well within an acceptable range.
