I use a ResMed S9 machine and this past fall after having my machine at the VA for a checkup I started going through an almost full reservoir of water every night. Prior to that point my reservoir would last two to three days. When I asked the Nurse at the VA what could be causing this, her answer was that the weather had changed and that was the reason for the dramatic difference in water usage. I did add the heated hose to my machine but was told that the hose would not be the contributing factor. In my prior seventeen years of CPAP usage I have never had this happen. Any ideas

The nurse is obviously a medical professional and if she says the weather must be causing the greater water usage... well... my personal take as a mere patient is that mask leaks; often because of breathing through your mouth are the most likely culprit. How do I know? You can probably guess. Before taming this issue, I would dry a full tank every night and now go about 3 days before having to refill. I hve the Resmed Airsense 10 machine set at humidity level 3. Mask leak, water goes.
