I have had the worse every experiences with dry mouth...to the point where I couldn't close my mouth and my throat was painful.
For years...so 2 days ago, I changed out the advance heated-hosed designed for my Resmed S9, that removes condensation and
replaced it with a regular hose. I also purchased a hose's cloth. Wow, what a difference!!! no more dry mouth pain. The hose is a little wet inside, but that's OK. I can always turn down the humidifier. Sometimes the simplest solution is simple.
I have a condition notorious for dry mouth symptoms, and found that Biotene Gel works amazingly well. Its messy applying it with your fingers, so you may also want to get some mouth swabs. I used them with my mother in the hospital but have just been using my fingers on myself.

I use a heated hose, and set the humidity control to Auto, and the temperature to 27 deg C on my ResMed. Have no problems at all with a dry mouth. My wife does the same with her ResMed. The only time I had an issue with a dry mouth was when I was using a nasal mask and not realizing I was opening my mouth in my sleep. I now tape my mouth closed to prevent that. Every few months I forget to fill my humidifier with water, and that is big trouble. Very dry mouth...
Hi,
What do you use to tape your mouth shut. I've been using the nasal pillow. I wake up with my mouth open, or if the air pressure is too much that opens my mouth. I need some advice.
Thank you.

I think it must be a hose cover like this one. They can be useful in cool humid climates, with a non heated hose. They prevent condensation or rainout in the hose. Should not be necessary with a heated hose though.
