Hi, I had a home sleep study just a few weeks ago that suggested I have severe sleep apnea, my events per night was 35 per hour). I have no problems getting to sleep but I know I wake up gasping for breath and I also wake up with the volume of my snoring (not to mention the wife).

I've recently been given a CPAP machine (Resmed Air Sense 10), although the first few days of using it I felt much better in myself (and the machine reported only a few events), I. The last couple of days I'm now back to 35 events per hour and the machine just makes my nights worse (itching, air leaking etc).

I don't know wether to persevere or to go back to the clinic?

Why do you suppose therapy was effective for a bit then not so much now? Do you think that solving the leak problem or itching would help you use your equipment more effectively? What pressure is you machine set to and what mask do you use? Are you involved in your own therapy to extent you monitor AHI and L/Min on resmed myair feature?

I wish I knew. The first two nights I had less than 10 events and I definitely felt better through the day. Since then average events per hour are 36. I'm taking the mask off after a few hours just to get some sleep!

The mask gets hot, sweaty and itchy and comes away from my face when I sleep on my side. A gap appears between the mask and my pillow leading to the machine going into overdrive to stabilise the pressure which wakes me up and sometimes the wife. If I tighten the mask further the strap are super itchy.

I have a full mask, but I don't know any of the stats you mention. I'm in the UK so the machine was provided by the NHS and my local hospital. I have a follow up appointment in 8 weeks but I can't last this long using this. I'm even getting emails from ResMed asking my if I'm ok because my events are high!
