Still struggling with my therapy

I have been struggling with my sleep apnea for over three years now. I have had two sleep studies done and I am still struggling. I am almost always waking up in the middle of the night with bad headaches. My machine is a ResMed AirSense 10. My settings are as follows:

Ramp time: Off Tube Temp: 69 Humidity level: 3 Smart Start: On Climate Control: Manual Pressure: 8.0

I have had these settings for at least seven months now. I have had a few consultations with my sleep tech. He has tried changing my mask, and changing my machine settings. I have asked him for help time and time again. During my last sleep study, I did not take my mask off at all. I am not sure why. I don't know if it was change of environment, or if I was just really tired. I am still taking off my mask every night. If I have to get up during the night and use the bathroom and my mask is off, I put it back on. When I wake up in the morning, my mask is on my night stand or on the floor. My current mask is not a full face mask. It covers my mouth and the lower part of my nose. Most nights I have my mask on from about three and half to four hours. There have been a few nights where I had my mask on for more then five hours.

At this point, I am beyond frustrated with myself. Although I have improved with my sleep therapy, it is not where I want to be right now. All I want is to have a healthy night of sleep. Right now, I am open to almost any suggestion.

Are you saying you take the mask off while sleeping and are not sure why or what to do about this issue? What were the results of your sleep study(s)?

Yes I take my mask off every night I sleep. However, I never take my mask off when I take a nap. The result of my first sleep study was I had sleep apnea. Before my first sleep study was done, I was waking up with terrible headaches. I snored very bad. The results of my second sleep study pretty much showed the same result as the first. The tech who watched me said I kept my mask on all night. I just don’t know what else to do about it. When I discussed this with my doctor, his reply was “try harder”. I’ve been trying for over three years.

When I asked about the sleep study results I meant with a tad more specificity. What was the AHI? The AHI will more or less tell you what your treatment options are.
