Due to the philips dreamstation recall and recommendation to immediately stop using this unit, I am in need of a new cpap machine.

I want to weigh the option of buying a machine directly as an alternative to going back through the medical insurance option which I found very frustrating.

Anyone have a recommendation on a decent value cpap machine I can buy online (quick !)

thanks,

dmy

I think the ResMed machines are very good. Either the AirSense 10 AutoSet or the AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her should work. The For Her version is usually the same price and includes an extra program that responds a little quicker to flow restrictions. It also is capable of being set to use the standard Auto mode. I am thinking you are in the US? I don't comparision shop much on the US sites but the SecondWindCpap site seems to have pretty good prices on new or used machines.

Is the Resmed AirSense 10 Elite also a good option?

It was the machine I could get the best deal on. I previously used the Philips Respironics DreamStation and stopped using due to the disconcerting nature of the recall.

The AirSense 10 Elite is a good machine, but it is a fixed pressure CPAP. It does record data on the SD card that can be read by OSCAR. If you know the pressure you need and have used a fixed pressure machine before it would be a good choice. However if you need an auto pressure machine then the AirSense 10 AutoSet would then be the better choice. At on line stores there is usually not that much difference in price between the AutoSet and the Elite.

Perfect thanks man!

I found an unused AirSense 10 on eBay for $300 and I couldn't pass on it!

I have always seemed to do better with a fixed pressure, so I am happy to hear that I won't be missing out on anything by opting for the elite.
