Dreamstation Humidification Blues

The humidity level in my region is very dry. Today it's 25%. I set my dreamstation humidification at 1. I set my tube heating at 1. After 4 - 6 hours, the dreamstation is out of water. YES, I do have a decent humidifier. It has little affect. So i wake up with a burned plastic stink in my nose that will not go away. Oh BTW, I removed the foam from my unit. So I feel poisoned by hot plastic smell all day. IF I turn all humidity settings off, the dry air seriously disturbs my sinuses and i end up spending 24 hours recovering from sinusitis like symptoms. I've been repeating this general pattern for 6 months but only recently have i been experiencing the burned plastic symptom. I know - I need a new machine. Maybe I should just quit cpap until the airsense 11 comes out and the airsense 10 prices are more reasonable. Also wondering if the inline humidification actually work. I'd consider giving them a try but not sure if they work..thanks

All I can say is that the heated hose and Auto mode on my ResMed Airsense works well. It does seem to have a limit of about 9.5 hours before a full tank goes dry. We live in an area with fairly dry air. Is it possible you are having high leakage. I would imagine that would put extra demand on the water to humidify the air that is leaking out.

Humidity in my room hovers around 30%

Here are my Average Leak Rates from OSCAR:

9.76 Most Recent 10.53 Last Week 11.82 Last 30 Days 16.57 Last 6 Months 15.17 Last Year

I have absolutely no solution to stop this leak rate. If the nasal pillow starts making noise, I adjust it so it doesn't wake up my wife.

Those leak rates are not that high. Something else must be wrong. I never run out of water unless I forget to fill it before I go to bed. I see that the humidity is indicating 32% today. I am not familiar enough with the DreamStation machine to suggest what it might be. It seems like the reservoir heating is going much higher than what you have set it at.
