So I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago with "very very very severe sleep apnea" due to have an AHI of 173. I didnt know my AHI till today but its seem that just to be classified with severe osa is greater than 30. So I am a bit freak out. I do use my machine religiously without fail. I do remember when I first started I was having horrible nightmares and sleep paralysis but those have diminished greatly by 98%. Has anyone else had a number that high. My level is at a 12 and my average of sleep incident is 1 to 2 nightly. What the highest you all have heard of?
I have not heard of any that high. Some I am aware of are around the 100 range. My wife was diagnosed at 83 for AHI, and now she averages 0.5 For AHI with a ResMed S9 Auto machine. Sometimes with central apnea events they can occur one right after another. It can be a sign of Cheyne Stokes Respiration, and can also be difficult to control.
I would think your oxygen level would be a better indicator. they never told me my ahi but my oxygen was 67% the one time they checked, I was at a setting of 24 but have since came down to 21
