Difficulty getting back to sleep when I wake up at night

Good Morning,

My name is Alberto Longo Arruda, I am brazilian from Rio de Janeiro, I acquired the CPAP ResMed Air Sense10 Auto Set on a medical recommendation and started using it yesterday, 02/16/2019 and had the expected discomfort of beginning treatment, but I was optimistic about the report received at which scored 87 and this gave me the incentive to continue using it for better results in the future and lowering my sleep apnea to the bare minimum! The doubt and the biggest annoyance was observed during the times I woke up to go to the bathroom, and when I returned to the device, I noticed that the air pressure was very high, bothering too much to go back to sleep and what I did was to turn the device off and turn it on again to start another cycle of therapy with a minimum pressure and consistent with the process of natural sleep again ... My question is, did I do it right or should I wait for the device to readjust automatically? I think what I did worked out because with that pressure, it was impossible to restart sleep ...

Yes, I would say you did it right. If I get up in the night, I leave my mask on my face, but I disconnect it from the machine and shut the machine off. Then when you go back to bed it will start the ramp again. I find it helpful to use the AutoRamp feature with a starting ramp pressure of 7 to 8 cm. I also turn EPR on at 3, and the EPR type set to Ramp Only. Setting EPR to ramp only can reduce the maximum pressure it goes to while you are sleeping.

I have been using the ResMed 10 for almost 2 years. During the first year I was sleeping 8-10 hours maybe getting up once. I never had any difficulty getting back to sleep. Lately I sleep 5 hours wake up and cannot get back to sleep no matter how hard I try. I'm not tired during the day I'm wondering if my body is now used to less sleep.

Have you considered using SleepyHead to view your ResMed 10 data in detail? It may give you some clues as to why you are waking up, beside the dry mouth.

While you might indeed be needing less sleep, five hours really isn't enough sleep. How long has this been going on?
