Please let us know any other comments/thoughts about the new survey reports.

One of the general themes I have been pushing in comments and research suggestions in the potential for this program to provide data on occupational issues that relate to treatment of sleep apnea.

Yet, nowhere in the surveys is any data being collected in if a person completing a survey works in an occupation that has fitness for duty requirements where their treatment for sleep apnea is related to their keeping their job.

The other issue is that for the data collected to be more useful you need to be able to reach out and collect data from patients NOT compliant with treatment. Data on the reasons for non-compliance can be as powerful and useful as current data being collected.

With the current privacy set up for this project no truck driver not in compliance with CPAP therapy should provide data or complete a survey. Doing so has the real potential to land them in jail.

Informal efforts to get other truck drivers to participate have been met with hard resistance due to this issue.

The project needs to look at obtaining a certificate of confidentiality for patients employed in safety sensitive positions to be able to participate and complete surveys without the fear that their answer might be successfully subpoenaed at some time in the future.

Do you think these summaries of key information are useful? Will they help you understand your sleep apnea experiences better, and/or better help you relate your experiences to the rest of the community?

I think the summaries of information are very useful. It is informative, reassuring and useful to hear and compare experiences with others

Are these new reports easier to understand than the current bar charts?

Absolutely, thank you! I think the new reports are very clear and I appreciate the visuals.

We plan on leaving the current reports (with the bar charts) available to view for any member who wishes to learn more detailed information. How likely are you to use these detailed reports?

Probably not very often. I think the new reports give a nice, easy way to quickly review the data.

Please let us know any other comments/thoughts about the new survey reports.

I appreciate the reports and the effort to help create support for sleep apnea patients. Insurance doesn't cover sleep apnea for me so it helps to have a forum where I can compare myself to a group and get a sense of if something is worth the expense of an out of pocket doctor visit.

  1. Yes. I like to see how my situation compares with others having similar symptoms, etc.
  2. No easier or harder to understand, but harder to view because they are so large.
  3. I might check that one time or another, but not study them or review them regularly.
  4. The new charts are huge. Same information in a smaller format might be more user friendly.

1.Do you think these summaries of key information are useful? Will they help you understand your sleep apnea experiences better, and/or better help you relate your experiences to the rest of the community? I enjoy reading about how other people are dealing with their SA issues. It's always good to know it's not just you. So yes, I do find the summaries useful.

2.Are these new reports easier to understand than the current bar charts? They both seem pretty easy to figure out. It's not rocket science and we're all adults here (I'm guessing) You do a wonderful job of answering questions and keeping everyone who is interested, informed. New vs old? Both great.

3.We plan on leaving the current reports (with the bar charts) available to view for any member who wishes to learn more detailed information. How likely are you to use these detailed reports? I will peruse the new reports and probably not go back to look at the old (re: current) reports. Of course the time might come when a topic is very important to me and I might flip back for the more detailed info. Last question: Comments? I've been a hosehead for too many years. I find it tiresome and just plain horrific to deal with. If I can come here and get some feedback in the forums or read a report about an issue I'm having, then my day is better and I feel better about dealing with this dreaded OSA.
