Sherry....I wrote asking if anyone was experiencing an itchy scalp from wearing the P10 head strap that stretches over the head to hold the nose pillows securely in place. If you're familiar with the P10 head strap....I don't see how a silk scarf wrapped around the two nylon straps would help me :-(
PMW ~ I just looked at the design of your N20 head gear - much different than mine - and....I would think a nylon swim cap would prevent the back strap of your head gear from irritating the back of your neck! Again, please update me!!
My scalp itching comes from the P 10 nylon strap I stretch over my head to hold the pillows in my nose. I know a bald person who itched from the P10 nylon strap and he purchased a nylon swim cap from a sporting goods store to protect his scalp from the P10 straps and that corrected his problem. I don't care to smash down my hair every night w/a swim cap so I continue to use a 100% cotton washcloth on my head to protect my scalp from the nylon strap from touching my scalp. It's not a great fix but my scalp itches less. For you PWM, you might try wrapping a silk scarf around the base of your neck or use a large thin gauze sponge at the bottom of your strap to prevent it from touching the skin on the back of your neck. Please provide an update as I empathize with your issue.
Thank you, Sierra, for the headgear modification idea.
I use a ResMed AirFit P10 w/nasal pillows. Is there anyone else whose scalp becomes irritated from the head strap? I welcome any suggestions as my head starts itching the minute I remove the strap in the morning and it continues to itch throughout the day. A couple nights ago I started wearing a cotton washcloth on my head; then the strap and I've yet to remedy the situation. Thank you.
To prevent the inside of my nose from becoming irritated, it was suggested I put a small amount of KY Jelly into each nostril. To prevent the division between my nostrils from becoming irritated, I switched from medium to small pillows and that worked for me, too.
I use a ResMed AirFit P10 w/nasal pillows. To prevent the head strap from making deep depressions in my face...I purchase 100% cotton oval makeup/cleansing pads. The oval pads are large enough that I cut one pad in half and use the halves for a week or more. The inexpensive product is called Swisspers premium ovals. They come 50 in a pack and I purchase them at Walmart in the isle where you'd find other types of makeup/cleansing pads.
In your report the number 2 associated with mask on/off suggests 1) you put the mask on, started the machine and went to bed and 2) the second mask on/off is showing that during your 5:45 hours of use - you stopped the machine and removed your mask to - for example - go to the bathroom, get up to get a drink of water or perhaps to open or shut a window, etc.
