I use a ResMed AirFit P10 w/nasal pillows. Is there anyone else whose scalp becomes irritated from the head strap? I welcome any suggestions as my head starts itching the minute I remove the strap in the morning and it continues to itch throughout the day. A couple nights ago I started wearing a cotton washcloth on my head; then the strap and I've yet to remedy the situation. Thank you.

I have used the P10 and while I find that my scalp can become itchy during the night with the mask on, I have never noticed it the next day. I normally take a shower and shampoo right after getting up, and use conditioner.

My main problem with the P10 was keeping it on my head and tight enough. I finally replaced the headgear part on with one from a Swift FX. It is much more secure, but the back strap still does slip up occasionally during the night. I probably need a further modification. Here is a post I made on the headgear modification.

Thank you, Sierra, for the headgear modification idea.

I have the same problem. I use a ResMed AirFit N20 mask. The back of my scalp right about my neck itches all day. I don't have a solution so let me know if anyone has any suggestions. I have wrapped a handkerchief about the frame of the mask that touches my face and that seems to help with the itching on my face.

The Swift FX mask has fabric strap covers that you can buy as an option to fit over the mask straps. As I mentioned in the other thread 1% OTC hydrocortisone cream can help too when used for a short time.

My scalp itching comes from the P 10 nylon strap I stretch over my head to hold the pillows in my nose. I know a bald person who itched from the P10 nylon strap and he purchased a nylon swim cap from a sporting goods store to protect his scalp from the P10 straps and that corrected his problem. I don't care to smash down my hair every night w/a swim cap so I continue to use a 100% cotton washcloth on my head to protect my scalp from the nylon strap from touching my scalp. It's not a great fix but my scalp itches less. For you PWM, you might try wrapping a silk scarf around the base of your neck or use a large thin gauze sponge at the bottom of your strap to prevent it from touching the skin on the back of your neck. Please provide an update as I empathize with your issue.

PMW ~ I just looked at the design of your N20 head gear - much different than mine - and....I would think a nylon swim cap would prevent the back strap of your head gear from irritating the back of your neck! Again, please update me!!

I use a 100% silk scarf to wrap around my strap to protect the friction on my hair. I notice when I don't do this that my hair shows my scalp where the strap has rubbed.

Sherry....I wrote asking if anyone was experiencing an itchy scalp from wearing the P10 head strap that stretches over the head to hold the nose pillows securely in place. If you're familiar with the P10 head strap....I don't see how a silk scarf wrapped around the two nylon straps would help me :-(
