i use a dreamstation and found using the machine in auto 5min 20max,the machine was running at a pressure of 18. i found if the mask started to leak is was hard to reseal,so i would wake up with air blowing over my face. maybe try different masks, discuss modifying pressure settings with your provider. i now have pressure set at 8 min 11 max, sleep all night,no leaking mask and ahi less than 3. btw i use a full face mask.
may i suggest asking your doctor their responsibility of having to report sleep apnea patients to transport dept. having the appropriate information a decision can be made. if a sleep study is done and apnea is determined, ensure the machine is used nightly to show a history of use and the results. the machines are not easy to get used to,but they are necessary. an initial issue was for me was the pressure setting.
i had some issues with the philips dreamstation at the start. the first year of use was very iffy. i had to make a decision to use it or jeopardize my licence. the original settings made wearing the mask difficult. i still use a full face mask but have fiddled with the pressures that now let me sleep 6 to 8 hrs a night. ahi results still less than 3. no mask leaks. the pressures i use are min 8 max 11. original sleep test results were 120 75 78. i did find min pressure less than 8 very uncomfortable. try to find a setting you are comfortable with and work from there.
i use a dreamstation and found using the machine in auto, was constantly running at high pressure,18. i had the same issue and mask leaking during the night.now have the settings at 9 min 11 max,no mask leaks,no puffy cheeks. ahi still<3. total clear airway apneas 5. total obstructive apneas 4,total hypopneas 7. this works for me. no longer have thoughts of putting the machine in bottom of wardrobe and forgetting about it.
i use a philips dream station and found when the pressure was high 18,i would have mask leaks at least 3 times a night causing me to wake up. the initial setup was 6min 20 max. ahi was<5. i have now set to 8 min 10 max ahi is now <3 90% of the time. 90 day report shows 3 times ahi spiked to 5,has not been over 5. i now sleep all night,no waking up because of leaking mask. you may want to try adjusting the pressure settings and find what does achieve a good result. does the airsense allow the pressure to be changed by you?
having googled inspire device,i am happy to stay using philips dreamstation. i have control over settings and can monitor daily results. good luck with it.
what device?
general discussion is on use of cpap machines and issues associated with using them.however suffering with sleep apnea may need to be alerted to licencing department and insurance co. i have to report yearly my apnea control for my truck licence. my ex sister inlaw has to report to the car insurance co. yearly. maybe prudent to check if you have to declare you suffer from sleep apnea. if found out after an accident you may have a bad outcome.
do you use a heated tube? just try different settings until you find a suitable setup. btw,if pressure is high the humidifier dries out if temp is high and your mouth ends up very dry. re the pressure, i use mine at 8min 11 max,ahi is <3. look on you tube for more info.my initial sleep test 120,78 and 75
