I wouldn't think this a long term solution...the active sleep ingredient is a form of benadryl (I think) and will have a lessening effect as you go forward...might work for a while but will become less and less effective...you need to make sure you are not having overly excessive air leakage and continue on with your therapy, since often, simply time will help take care of these problems................madjack
The AutoSet machine will go as high as 20 (or more).it is probably locked as a cpap (instead of as an apap) at a 12 by your DME for ??? maybe your Drs prescription...you should contact your DME or supplier about this...if you enter the clinical menu, you can change this BUT, you should not do this unless done with knowledge and care...............madjack
p.s. my AutoSet has been set at 8.5 to 14(by me)..the sleep report says my apneas break at 11.5, my DME originally set the machine at a 12 and locked as a cpap....until, I bitched a blue moon about that setting and the locking of the machine as a cpap instead of an apap...they gave me what I had wanted and I had done a ton of research, here and other cpap related sites before making any adjustments...my ahi has gone from a 50+ to 1 or less.................mj
In the most strongest sense I would tell you to run, not walk to a cardiologist and have a stress test done and probably an echo cardiogram...I had virtually identical symptoms and while I am 63, I had these symptoms for a while...I had 65/75% blockage in all 4 of the main arteries/veins to/from the heart especially the one called the "widow maker"...I ended up having a quad bypass surgery and now on cpap therapy...this is the best thing to ever happen to me...your body is trying tell you something...LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I had, had a couple of EKG's at my family Drs and they showed nothing...it took a stress test and echo cardiogram (they go together) at the cardiologists...this resulted in a heart cath which showed the blockages...scared the bejeezus out of me.......mj
P.P.S. I hope you have insurance as none of this is cheap But, it will save your life...what is that worth..............mj
I had severe leakage problems at first (still do)...I tried a chin strap at first with a a bit of luck...however, it streched out and hurt my ears...I concentrated on training my tongue to stay in place against my palate...this helped a bit but not enough...I finally just gave up the chin strap as being to obtrusive and use a small pillow against my chin to help...consider this (I do), I had an apnea index over 50...even with my excessive air leakage my ahi is now 1. So, who cares if I leak 20+ during the night with numbers like I have seen............madjack P.S. FYI I use a ResMed10 auto set with P10 nasal pillows...being a hairy faced guy, I can't use a mask.........mj
It has it's own ATT cell connection you paid for in price of machine....................mj
.thanks for your thoughts...you can never have too much good advice...the wipes and a spray disinfectant came from Amazon, CHEAP, but, I will keep your advice in mind when next refill is needed...CPAP water cost me around a buck orso per gallon so, cheap enough for me since a gallon last near a month...I probably need to be more consistent in emptying the water chamber...... madjack
I have mine set at 8.5 to 14...The machine tells me, it breaks my apneas at around 11.5...when I first started therapy, it would break at 12.5...I find it much easier to breath at 8.5 with minimal leakage...when the machine detects an event it ramps up until the event end, usually at 11.5...if you press the home button and big knob button at the same time, it will take you to the clinicians menu, where you can make changes to all parameters... be careful of making large changes as YMMV............ madjack
I have large mouth leakage, rarely exceeding a 5 on myair...this lead to bad dryness, it could be alleviated(somewhat) by turning the humidity up(have heated hose as well). However, this was more humidity than I wanted...got a chin strap, turned humidity to 2 and heat to 80 and got moisturizing lozenges by ACT...usually, I awake after 5hrs sleep to use the facilities and pop a lozenge at that time...this has solved most of my dry mouth and even helped with mouth leakage since everything is staying lubricated...I also wear dentures which I remove at night causing me to work at "training" my tongue to stay glued to my palate...these things have allowed me to achieve around 15 on myair and sometimes a 20 (wahoo).............. madjack
...just my experience...I snerk/snort a few times per night and usually cough at that time(and others) to clear my throat...I have never had these incidents register as an event...I am 4mos in to treatment and have gone from 50+ to less than 2, often less than 1..when I got my machine, I insisted on an auto set ResMed10 to avoid having to have an additional titration study...I use nasal pillows and often have LARGE air leakage thru my mouth. I have alleviated much of that with a (much hated) chin strap...the above are simply my experiences and should not be taken as hard advice...... madjack
I have a ResMed 10 auto set w/built in humidifier...the humidifier pulls out the end, is split in half for filling, no need for contortions for filling...I also have the ClimateRite hose...I remove this every other week and clean with a disinfectant designed for cpaps..I do clean my nasal pillows every day (orso) with wipes made for this purpose...I use "CPAP Water" I get from my local grocery store pharmacy...it is triple distilled/filtered...it sits right next to the "BabyWater"............. madjack
