Hello!
I recently just got my results back from a sleep test and I stopped breathing 8 times in an hour. The doc said I might have a mild case of sleep apnea. He has not given me a CPAP machine but he did prescibe me Prozac and said that it would help me. Ha anyone heard of this before? Are there any natural remedies to help me. I feel like im too young Im only 26 and I have been sleepy for a while now. Please help!

I recommend you get a second opinion. Not sure what the prozac prescription was based on but you are NOT breathing for at least a minute eight times an hour. When this happens, your blood oxygen level may be dropping below safe levels. Suggest you get a copy of your sleep study results and check the SPO2 figures. Really not sure how taking prozac could mitigate sleep apnea. Get a second opinion and start researching the terms on your report so you can better captain your own therapy.

I went to the ResMed myair site and couldn't find ANY explanation for how AHI is scored. My one minute benchmark must have been from my study a few years ago as I quit breathing for a minute or longer quite often.

There are internationally standardised rules for the scoring of, well, everything that is scored in a sleep study. There are lots more of them. They are all very boring and no one except a sleep tech needs to know them.
I don't know why the doctor thinks Prozac will help you, I thought it might have made things worse!
If you are slightly overweight, loosing the excess might clear it all together, in a lot of cases it will, but not all.
I did not see your sleep study, so it will depend on what type of Apnea's you are having.
Obstructive or Central?
Did you get a report from your sleep study?
