I don't think the ResMed machine has an "auto" setting for the humidifier. Get to the menu by pushing the knob when the settings field is highlighted and then go to humidity. The knob allows change from 0 or 1 (can't recall) to max setting which is a higher number. If you are getting dry mouth (throat too), you are breathing though your mouth. Look through the forum and see what means are available to keep your mouth closed. It happens when your jaw slackens at night. I personally use a boil & bit mouth guard and my mouth stays closed. I do NOT get dry mouth. Others put surgical tape over their mouth and some use straps that go under their jaw.

Yes, the AirSense 10 does have an Auto setting for humidification. Or at least the ones I use do and I am unaware of a variant which doesn't. When you are in the screen which allows you to adjust the humidification level, just turn it up to max and then one more turn will get you to auto.
I use a similar CPAP nose device. I had to tape up my mouth with paper Johnson & Johnson tape. This sounds extreme, but it worked for me. I can cough and sneeze with the tape in place and it stopped the air leakage through my mouth.
I wash around my lips with soap to get the oil off and then apply. Hope this helps...
