hi everyone,

continuing my post in new thread as the previous one is locked..

Well the winters have set in here...

and so is my sleep apnea attacks severity...if its apt to term as apnea..

as i have discovered that the prime cause of my breath stopping in the middle of sleep is the mucus (due to cold) which i can comtinuously feel up somewhere behind the nose ,in upper floor of mouth. I mean i keep on swallowing bits of mucus. thats what os causing the breath stopping. and this is happening eveynight now, as opposed to once in a months perhaps.

ny idea how to get rid of mucous. This time the brearhlessnes is very severe almost feeling as if will die if i dont shakenmyself and wake up.

I find a nasal pillow mask and tape over my mouth forces me to breathe through my nose, keeping it clear through the night.

I would never have the courage to apply Sierra's method with the taped mouth. I find the entire experience with CPAP way too degrading and intimidating without that, but I have found that the nasal pillows almost never fail, especially with the judicious use of antihistamines and nasal sprays.

There was a time when I would wind up the pressure a tad if I had serious congestion but I don't bother anymore and certainly do not recommend it without professional advice and supervision.

I have pillows, and they seem to wear out after only a couple of months. I keep them clean religiously. Should last longer than that.

I have used the ResMed AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask for about 6 months now, and have not replaced the insert, but I probably should. It still seems to be working well for me. I just clean it with vinegar, then dish soap and water.

There are a few other bonuses with nasal pillows that you may benefit from if you are not already using one.

They tend to deliver the same results at a lower pressure and they still function quite well when you sleep on your side.
