I received a resmed SD card with my new cpap machine over a year ago. This morning I tried to download last nights results in Oscar but there was no information altho my air had summary data. Do I need a new card? If I get a new card will Oscar retain the old data?

You have probably checked, but make sure the card is unlocked when it goes into the CPAP machine. Have you looked at the card with File Explorer to see if there are still files on it? If you get a new card the original is 4 GB, but those can be hard to find. I believe 8 and 16 GB work as well. Yes, assuming OSCAR is the same as SleepyHead all your data should be saved and backed up in your computer, at least back from the last time you downloaded to the computer.
Normally when you put the SD card into the machine it should show a message briefly saying it is checking the card, and if the card is bad or locked there should be a warning message.

I have purchased a Kingston 6 gig card and inserted it into my machine in unlocked mode. I get the following message -"SD card error. Remove your card and press start to begin therapy"
How will it save the data if the card is not inserted?
The machine has internal storage as well as the external SD card, it will save your data.
I believe that the internal storage is seven days worth of complete detailed data, thirty days worth of summery data, and 365 days worth of basic information.
Replace the SD card as soon as possible but the machine will save the data internally. The Resmed machine stores all the data on-line so your doctor has access to it.

There must be a problem with the card. It has to be formatted to Fat32. Perhaps try another card. With no card in the machine it will not save any detailed data, only very basic summary data.
