I have been using an Air Sense 10 for over three years with no problems at all. I have suffered from cluster headaches for many years and my neurologist pushed me to have a sleep study which showed my apnea. And as she thought once I started treatment for my apnea my cluster headaches stopped!
A month ago I fell and broke my shoulder so I have of course moved from my bed to a recliner. Since then I am seeing the red face mask leak symbol every time I wake up and my dreaded cluster headaches have returned. I almost never saw that dreaded red face sleeping in my bed on my side with a pillow. Evidently, my apnea is not being stopped, hence the clusters breaking through.I have tried loosening my full face mask, tightening it and nothing seems to work. The only difference I can see is that I am now sleeping on my back instead of my side.
Hoping someone out there can see something that I have missed. I need to stop these headaches I before surgery..Not sure how I can deal with the surgery pain plus these debilitating headaches.
I used a full face mask for 3 years and had nothing but leaks and trouble almost constantly . Had to wear it so tight it left permanent indentations lines in my face . It was only when I shifted to a nasal mask ( Airfit P30i ) that I became able to get the best out of REMED S 10 . Initially I could hardly stand it and my mouth was like a desert - but then I added a chin strap to keep my mouth closed . Irritating - yes - but works .Ill never go back to full face - incredibly confining and difficult to use !
Good luck with these challenges I know how awful this can be .
Hi rumeke. My sleep doctor at the VA said that more sleep apnea events occur when you are on your back and advised me to sleep on my side as much as possible. He even suggested tying a tennis ball around my back to make it uncomfortable when sleeping on my back. Obviously, it is tough to sleep on your side on a recliner, so I would suggest a chin strap like PJK wrote or taping your mouth.
