I have noticed lately that my number of AHIs has increased. Usually my number is below 5, but lately I have had 6+, 8, and one night 13. Then it went back down. One night it was below 2. Last night it was 6.8. I recently put on a new mask. I don't know if that would cause it. Mask leakage is still relatively low. Does any one have an explanation for this?

Do you have a sleep doctor that you work with? Those may be questions to ask him/her. Do you sleep on your back? Sometimes when you change positions (especially to your back) it can cause airways to close up more. Has your pressure changed? Have you had any sinus problems or colds? Those can also affect your breathing and in turn, your levels.
Ruby makes some good points. Sleep position, medications, allergies or colds may affect your AHI numbers. The new mask may play a factor in it also, if the mask leaks are reading low but are increased from your previous mask, that may affect your numbers also.
