My first good night of using the CPAP was last night! My sleep apnea episodes per hour was 0.9. I guess it's a good score but what does it mean? Less than 1 episode per hour? Then shouldn't it be 0.0? My home sleep study showed 51 per hour. Thank you. Have only been using CPAP for three nights now. The first two nights were awful. Tried two different masks (pillow and nose). I'm trading in my nose pillow mask for the newer ResMed P10. Less leaking, less facial marks, great for side sleepers from the reviews I read. The Swift FX just didn't work for me. The nose mask made my mouth fill up with air and leaked out, gave me a sore throat. So glad I found this forum!
Ah, I found this explanation here on the forum. "The AHI is an index, so it is an average of total events per hour. An AHI of 0.5 would indeed indicate that you are having about 1 event every 2 hours. Someone who sleeps for 8 hours and has an AHI of 0.5 would have 4 events over the course of the 8 hours." So it looks like 0.9 is very good. Better than 51 episodes per hour in my home sleep study test! I wore the mask for 6.30 hours last night.
